Disclaimer
This is a Blog
Don’t be confused. Don’t be surprised. Both FisherFindings and FisherNotebook are personal weblogs. These present my own opinions and not those of my employer.
Content Validity
These blogs represent my own research, experience and thoughts. All of those change over time. At least that’s the objective of being a mature adult, who grows with their experience. So, feel free to challenge information you find here. But don’t be surprised if what I said yesterday or today differs from my thoughts and statements tomorrow.
Content Accuracy
While I always attempt to present accurate and complete information, the last time I checked with my wife, I am all too human. So, if you find an inaccuracy, do what my wife does … challenge me and remind me. Through our open discussion we can arrive at the best answers possible for the OpenVMS community. This is your resource, help make it as accurate and helpful as possible.
By the way, do not be surprised if the content of posts change over time. Though I try to have the be as accurate as possible, I often tweak key information as I learn or as people ask questions about the content. These blogs change as the needs of the OpenVMS community changes.
External Links
I make every effort to link to credible and useful resources. However, due to the number of websites to which I point, it is entirely possible some may no longer represent my views or ethics. Through plugins and visual examinations of the links from these blogs, I attempt to be certain broken links are handled and no unexpecte relationships develop. Still, “sfuff” happens. Should you find an offensive link, please just let me know. Use the ‘Contact JBF’ form you will find on each and every page and post of the blogs. As soon as possible, I will take action on your request.
Photographs and Graphic Images
You will find lots of references to other websites. I use Clipmarks to help provide proper attribution to those sites. It provides both a quick view of the information provided and pointers to the source. Again, think of these posts and pages as my research notebook (the FisherNotebook blog) and resulting findings (FisherFindings blog).
But I may fail to provide proper attribution to the work of others. That is clearly not my intent. If you feel any images or photographs presented on these blogs fail to provide credit where credit is due, please just let me know. Use the ‘Contact JBF’ form on each and every page and post. As soon as possible, I will take action on your request.
Oh, and I can not imagine how any images here would offend anyone, but don’t be shy if they do. Let me know. Remember, this can only become a great resource for you if you let me know how to make it better.
Files, Programs and Downloads
Folks, you will find various files, programs and downloads on these blogs. I provide them to help you better understand Lessons Learned about OpenVMS storage. While I make every effort to be certain these will not harm your systems, I can offer no guarantees.
What actions do I take? Well, first of all, I scan each and every file on my system on a weekly basis. Then I scan all files before I upload them. Finally, I periodically donwload and scan some randomly selected files from the blogs.
Why do I take so much effort to do this? Because I honestly do care and do not want you to encounter problems due to anything you download from these blogs.
But remember, the internet is full of people who want to do bad things to others. Try to remember that and use caution. Scan the files you download. Use them on a test system. All the standard things we all do.
Be Polite
These blogs are a community resource. I value differences between all of us. Though it is possible someone posting a comment may make an offensive comment, I do not and will not condone statements that belittle others. We are all individuals and when we gather together those differences enrich the entire community.
If you find anything I say offensive, please challenge me on it. It is far more likely I did a poor job of writing. If you find something someone else wrote offensive, use the ‘Contact JBF’ form you will find on each and every page and post of the blogs. As soon as possible, I will take action on your request.
We have the chance to come together here and build a strong, helpful community. Please remember that we all bring valuable insight and experience to the table.
Responsibility for the Content
Only I am responsible for the content of these blogs. Neither my employer, my family or friends have any clue about what I write in these blog entries. So, while I work for HP, none of these pages reflect the views, opinions or marketing objectives of HP. In this case, I write these blogs as a member of the OpenVMS community who is attempting to “give back” to the community.
However, I am not responsible for what comment authors write. If I or others find that content offensive then I reserve the right to delete the comments without notice.
Let’s face it, these blogs should positively reflect on what I know and share. If someone tries to muddy the waters, I will filter out the mud.
Personal Views
Uh, do you get the feeling the views in these blogs are mine and mine alone? If you said yes, then you are right. Though I work for HP, none of this represents the views or opinion of my employer. Don’t yell at them about this. They don’t know. This is midnight project work (literally, since it is now 11:56 PM as I write this). This is just my effort to give back to the OpenVMS community.
As I already mentioned in this, if you find what I write offensive, just let me know. Use the ‘Contact JBF’ form you will find on each and every page and post of the blogs. As soon as possible, I will take action on your request.
Commenters Views
Well, Okay. The views of the commenters are their own. Since I can not control their content, I can not be held liable for that content. However, I realize we all might be offended by the comments and content of others. I make every reasonable effort to provide a good environment for the readers of these blogs. But “stuff” happens. If you find something that offends you, then use the ‘Contact JBF’ form you will find on each and every page and post of the blogs. As soon as possible, I will take action on your request.
